Did you hustle to install the Windows 10 Anniversary update because you just couldn’t wait to get the latest features on your PC?
Have you noticed that your SSD feels a bit less spacious than it used to? When you do an update, Windows adds a file that will let you go back to the previous version in case you run into some issues. But that file takes up space, if you’re using a smaller drive, this can be a problem.
Don't worry here's how to delete it and get that space back.
Note, however, that once you free up this space, there’s no going back. So if suddenly decide you want to do a recovery and jump back in time, not having the Windows.Old file will prevent that.
First, hit Win key + I to go to Settings. Click System, then Storage. Click on the drive where Windows 10 is installed (C by default). Scroll down to and click on Temporary Files. Check the box next to Previous versions of Windows and click on Remove Files.
Now, you’ll free up tons of space (generally in the 10-15GB range), which is always a good thing!
