Between Facebook Messenger, Slack, WhatApp, Skype, and every other social media or chat app on your phone and computer, it can get a little overwhelming keeping track of all the different places you’re receiving messages. Using an all-in-one app that puts all those services in one convenient location is bound to make life easier for you.
If you want to to do this, there’s quite a few options available to you. With two desktop apps, one Chrome app, and popular services like Facebook Messenger, Skype, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, and Slack available on all three, it really will come down to personal preference.
A complete list of the supported services is available at the end of the article.
All-in-One
Chrome users can opt for All-in-One. This is particularly useful if you want to install on a machine that has restrictions, since Chrome extensions and add-ons tend to be exempted from these limitations.
Once you’ve installed the add-on, you can choose which services you want to authorize and can enable desktop notifications on a case by case basis. As you enable each of the 29 services available on All-in-One, they will be available as a tab in the app.
If you prefer a desktop app, Franz is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux users. It looks startlingly similar to All-In-One and works in pretty much the same way. Each service will be viewable in its own tab, where you can see your contact list.
You can also choose to enable or disable notifications for each service on a case by case basis.
Another desktop app, also available for Mac, Windows, and Linux users is Rambox. It supports 44 services, and while it does look somewhat different from All-in-One and Franz, it has the same tabbed layout, and the ability to enable desktop notifications on a case-by-case basis. It also gives users the option to add custom services, making it the natural choice for anyone who is on a ton of networks.
To help you make the decision on which of these apps is best for you, we’ve drawn up a table showing which services are available on each app:
